The colorSENSOR CFO is a new controller for precise color recognition in industrial measurement tasks. The CFO series is distinguished by high color accuracy, state-of-the-art interfaces and intuitive operation. The controller is connected to CFS sensors with integrated optical fibers, which can be adapted for different measurement tasks. The colorSENSOR CFO is used in color recognition tasks on interior parts such as head supports, in packaging control or in color sorting tasks with crown caps, closures or labels.

Intuitive operation via web interface

The integrated, intuitive web interface simplifies configuration of the CFO system. The sensor is connected to a PC via an Ethernet interface. The web interface features measurement value display, set up and configuration of e.g. exposure and measurement frequency. Furthermore, the sensor can be adapted to suit different color groups and tolerance space for each color.

The operation of the colorSENSOR CFO controller requires sensors which are used at the measuring point. You can choose the sensor depending on the measurement task. Moreover, these high-quality sensors with glass fiber optics are characterized by small installation dimensions and robust materials. This makes them particularly suitable for mechanical stress and harsh ambient conditions such as high temperatures. Since the sensor head requires only little space, the sensor can also be used in confined conditions.
The angular illumination of the CFS1 enables a punctual illumination of the measuring object without influencing the surface. As a result, only the diffusely reflected portion of the surface color is detected. The measuring arrangement is best suited for high-gloss and diffusely reflecting surfaces, since the direct reflection (surface gloss) does not influence the measurement.

In combination with the performance of the CFO controllers, the ring illumination delivers even more precision thanks to uniform illumination. This compact combination can be used universally, but is also suitable for special solutions (customer-specific adaptations). The homogeneous illumination offers advantages especially on strongly structured or shiny metallic surfaces and provides highest precision in color differentiation of, e.g., white tones.

The transmission sensor can be used to measure transparent and translucent products such as filters, films and optical lenses. The measurement arrangement in transmitted light 180°: 0° provides even more precision in combination with the performance of the CFO controllers. Here, the distance variation between the test specimen and the receiver or illumination has no noticeable influence on the measurement result. The transmission sensor can be used universally, but is also suitable for special solutions (customer-specific adaptations).

The reflex sensor, in combination with the performance of the CFO controllers, provides even more precise distinction of the surface characteristics of materials. The measurement arrangement in the reflective sensor of the transmitter and receiver in 0°: 0° enables quality control not only based on color, but also in combination with the reflection properties of the product surface. This is needed, for example, when sorting different materials such as stainless steel, steel, tin, zinc, aluminum, brass, gold or other colored parts.

Powerful controllers for precise color

The colorSENSOR CFO is a new controller for precise color detection in industrial measurement tasks. The CFO series is characterized by high color accuracy, modern interfaces and intuitive operation. CFS sensors with integrated fiber optics are connected to the controller, which can be adapted for different measurement tasks. The colorSENSOR CFO is used for color detection on interior parts such as headrests, packaging inspection or sorting by color of crown caps, closures or labels. The colorSENSOR replaces the models of the LT series.
The CFO100 is ready for precise, relative color measurements in automation environments. Its high color accuracy enables reliable recognition of the slightest color differences. Due to a measuring rate of 10 kHz, the CFO100 can also be used to monitor dynamic processes.

The CFO200 is designed for high performance, relative color measurements. With a measuring rate of 30 kHz, even dynamic high speed production processes can be monitored reliably. High repeatability enables the reliable detection of even the slightest color differences. The color memory offers teach-in of up to 320 colors in 254 color groups.

Color recognition on different
surface types

colorSENSOR OT are fixed lens sensors with True-Color detection. The sensor illuminates the surface with white light and captures and analyzes the reflected color values. They all share the same electronic and utilize different optics for various challenging targets. The internal illumination can be disabled by software so the y can be used on self-luminous tagets as well.
